Flat shades are great for everyday use. They have a simple design without horizontal seams or stitching, making this style ideal for fabric with a large pattern that should not be interrupted. Since this shade does not have stay pockets, the stays are tacked between the face fabric and the lining. Small tack stitches, which attach the cord rings, are visible on the face of the shade. For sheer fabrics, construction is modified to show the sheer to its best advantage. If the shade is wider than 48” they will require side hems. in this case the Flat pleated may be an alternative choice. With a choice of bracket mounts for wall or ceiling, we use a patented head rail that has a continuous cord for easy, geared operation.
Flat Pleated Shades are our most popular shade style. Acrylic stays, which help the shade retain its form, are inserted into stay pockets sewn on the back of the shade. The lining bottom hem has a weight bar, and the fabric bottom hem has a stay. These are not recommended for sheer fabrics. Wide shades are possible without side hems if the fabric can be railroaded. With a choice of bracket mounts for wall or ceiling, we use a patented head rail that has a continuous cord for easy, geared operation.
Soft Shades feature a “hobbled” construction, giving it a softer look. This shade must always be lined, because hobbling is achieved by using a special method to sew the face fabric and the lining fabric together. We do not use tape as other manufacturers do. The lining bottom hem has a weight bar, and the fabric bottom hem has a stay. With a choice of bracket mounts for wall or ceiling, we use a patented head rail that has a continuous cord for easy, geared operation.
The pleats of Bar Roman Shades are held together with grommets instead of being sewn together, creating a more casual look. The shade’s lifting cords are routed through the grommets. If a sheer fabric is used, the shade must be lined so that the face fabric won’t tear at the grommets. There are acrylic stays on each pocket, and the lining bottom hem has an an additional weighted rod.
